Knockin' On Heaven's Door

by Antony & The Johnsons

Antony & the Johnsons covering “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”

Antony has a voice like none other. Hearing him sing last night at Carnegie Hall was absolutely breathtaking—I wish it had gone on longer, but at least his short moment on stage was a perfect performance. While Antony’s music isn’t for everyone, hearing him on this cover really emphasizes his undeniably amazing and unique voice.

Woodstock (Joni Mitchell cover)

by Austra

Austra puts a completely different spin on Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock” and the results are incredible. I’ve been listening on loop.

Anand Wilder of Yeasayer belts out Alanis Morissette’s “Oughta Know.”

This, my friends, is why I love indie musicians.

So I clearly just had my last final today and have been dicking around instead of packing. And clearly, I’ve been dicking around on youtube. This is a glorious cover of Judee Sill’s “Crayon Angels” by Robin Pecknold of the Fleet Foxes. I like it better than the original, I think. It’s beautiful. I still can’t even comprehend how he can sing so beautifully and get such good sound playing the back of a moving cab car.

Also, the comment on this video on youtube with the most “likes” reads: “How could you not love a band where every person looks like jesus.”

Amen, dude. Amen.

Time To Pretend

by Jonsi

copycats:

Time to Pretend (live) by Jónsi
originally by MGMT

(via coketalk)

It’s amazing how easy it is pretend (sorry…) that the lyrical content of this track isn’t pessimistic and depressing when listening to MGMT’s original. But with this somber piano version and Jónsi’s vocal stylings… man does this hit you as a big downer — but a beautiful one. I’m sure we’ll hear this at the end of a really dramatic episode of ‘House’ or ‘Gossip Girl’ or something. — Andy

Yeah, Jonsi makes anything beautiful.
