I'm Sam. I'm a native New Yorker, concert junkie, fledgling foodie and news hound. I like all kinds of music, art, animation, film, cute animals and a lot of other things that I post here.

If I had unlimited money I would own all of these. It would make the best DVD collection ever. Take note, people, if you ever want to get me presents…

Sigur Ros - Popplagiư

Here’s an HD clip of the finale of Sigur Ros’ 2007 documentary, Heima. I would say that this might be my favorite musical moment of all time. There are no words to explain its beauty.

That being said, if you don’t like this, I’m not sure that we can be friends.

The other night, I watched Baraka, the most beautiful and incredible wordless documentary about life and humanity. The visuals were absolutely stunning; it was so hard for me to believe that it was shot in 1992. Emily and I watched it again two nights later while making rosemary parmesan red potato/sweet potato fries, and I still couldn’t get over it.
The film is a revelation about our world and humanity. It’s mind blowing to look at all these places and civilizations and realize that they are all part of the same earth. I don’t even know how else to describe this meaningful and eloquent film, except that it is quite possibly the best film I’ve ever seen (and I mean this seriously).
Oh, and if you get the chance, watch it on a huge screen on bluray with the lights off :D

A preview video of Ra Ra Riot’s documentary on the making of “The Orchard,” their new album. I want to be in a band (one like this, duh) so. badly.
