Nicolas Jaar - “Colomb”
I’m getting super in to Nicolas Jaar’s album, Space Is Only Noise. I don’t know what to say because his music is indescribable, every song is different, and the samples really lend every second to something unique.

Kindred

Burial - “Kindred”
Holy wow, Burial. There is so much depth and emotion in this. I feel like Burial creates a sound that feels like a grey, apocalyptic world…and yet, I’m never depressed by it. These samples that drone “baby, you are the light” pretty much kill me, because amid the static and the rain samples and the drab soundscapes, those words genuinely feel and sound like hope.
Well done, Burial. This is an emotional 11-minute opus.
Góða tungl
Samaris - “Góða Tungl”
Samaris is a young Icelandic band that gorgeously blends orchestral sounds with wobbly basslines and melancholy vocals. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat. It also goes well with Kiasmos, which I mentioned the other day.
