I'm Sam. I'm a native New Yorker, concert junkie, fledgling foodie and news hound. I like all kinds of music, art, animation, film, cute animals and a lot of other things that I post here.

Varúð

by Sigur Ros

Sigur Ros - “Varúð

This is perhaps one of my favorite tracks from Valtari so far. I’d really like to envelop myself in that climactic crash of sound at the end. Or just cry. In the rain. Or have an epiphany. Just kidding…Sigur Ros is the epiphany.

"When we meet, the four of us, in some space, with some instruments, we play together…four as one. We don’t talk much. We just play until something feels right, some atmosphere comes to us, and we just mold it and form it."
—  Jonsi, Sigur Ros frontman, on the band’s process.

Sigur Rós - “Ágætis Byrjun”

Wonderful live version from their documentary film Heima, complete with gorgeous, natural visuals. It’s been a shitty day and this always makes things better.

Góða tungl

Samaris - “Góða Tungl”

Samaris is a young Icelandic band that gorgeously blends orchestral sounds with wobbly basslines and melancholy vocals. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat. It also goes well with Kiasmos, which I mentioned the other day.
