"Everyone should see “Catfish” — not because of the twist, but because of how powerfully and weirdly it speaks to our time, to internet culture and the way it allows the controlled illusion of intimacy."

-IFC’s review of the movie Catfish. The rest of this quote was really compelling but I didn’t want to be that dick spoiling the movie, if it hasn’t been spoiled for you already.

There are so many things I want to say about this film. Please go see it.

Dear Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Movie)

tvconnoisseur:

WARNING!  SPOILERS!

  • Where was the epic battle scene at Hogwarts?  Seriously.  The one part I was looking forward to in this movie and it’s not there. Agreed.
  • Explain to me the point of telling and not showing ALL THE TIME.  Oh look, there’s Dean Thomas.  We’ve always liked him, but now he’s dating Ginny.  But she’s super-sad at him and they’re fighting even though we’ve never seen it. So true, it’s ridiculous.
  • The Tom Riddle flashbacks were great.  Really well done.  Super creepy. Agreed.
  • Dumbledore!  Sadness!  Although the poison-drinking scene was far less disturbing than I had pictured in my head. Agreed. That whole scene wasn’t disturbing enough…because it was PG.
  • And finally, Snape.  Good job hitting the major points, but the book is called Harry Potter and THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE for a reason!  I wanted more about Snape’s past!  I don’t just want a throw-away line at the end.

Melissa, you’re so right. I’m always thoroughly entertained by the movies, but I can’t help but be disappointed, since the books are so fluid in their depiction of the magical world, it’s impossible to convey all of that onscreen.

This is the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are. The book was so amazing and such a part of my childhood, and the movie looks absolutely incredible. I get the chills every time I see this trailer.
