That scene was a really, really tough scene to film. They didn’t tell me they were going to do this but Phil told Jon to hold on to my hand and not let it go. And then he did and I really sort of lost it… and I will say that every single one of those tears was actually absolutely real.

Although I am embarrassed to admit

that I watch (and enjoy) The Bachelor, there’s something about the contrived situations and the naivete of about half of the contestants that I find utterly fascinating.

I know that I’m not saying much new here, but it seems that with every season, it gets worse. And yet, each season, people go on the show hoping to find “love” on wildly romantic dates to exotic locales that you could enjoy even if you were spending time with an inanimate object.

It’s semi-terrifying to watch a few of the normal-seeming contestants get caught up in the show, start to “fall for” the Bachelor, “open up” to the Bachelor, and even think they could end up getting married to him by the end of it all.

It’s almost embarrassing to watch. If love is supposed to be natural, this is the opposite.

But I’m transfixed by how contrived it is. Is this why we like all reality tv? Because it makes a caricature of life instead of emulating it?

If I had unlimited money I would own all of these. It would make the best DVD collection ever. Take note, people, if you ever want to get me presents…
