I'm Sam. I'm a native New Yorker, concert junkie, fledgling foodie and news hound. I like all kinds of music, art, animation, film, cute animals and a lot of other things that I post here.

Sigur Rós - “Ágætis Byrjun”

Wonderful live version from their documentary film Heima, complete with gorgeous, natural visuals. It’s been a shitty day and this always makes things better.

Andrew Bird on The Colbert Report. So great. Also, so much NORTHWESTERN PRIDE for both of them! Andrew is truly incredible. And so is Stephen, obviously.

Portlandia - “Unemployment Plan”

Best mock PSA ever.

I didn’t know I needed to see Zola Jesus live until I was there and witnessing it. It was truly incredible, and I wish it went on longer. This video isn’t from the show last night, but it’s got more professional footage from a show she did in NY a few months back. So much talent, I am now officially obsessed.

Time-Lapse Thing of the Day: Yosemite National Park gets a loving time-lapse tribute courtesy of Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty of Project Yosemite.

They write

This whole project has been an amazing experience. The two of us became friends through Vimeo and explored a shared interest in timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an extended period of time. We’d like to expand this idea to other locations and would appreciate any suggestions for a future project.

Gear: Canon 5D Mark II with a variety of Canon L and Zeiss CP.2 Lenses. Music: “Outro” by M83.

[thanks ryan!]

So amazing, all of my favorite things. Nature+timelapse+Yosemite+M83!

Sh*t New Yorkers Say

If you live here, you know how amazingly, eerily perfect this is. I said about 90 percent of these things on my way to work this morning. And bonus points for the faked enthusiasm for a gift of crappy Magnolia Bakery’s crappy cupcakes.

The Magnolia part is what got me the most.
